Robyn Furness-FallinRobyn Furness-Fallin

Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations

Robyn C. Furness-Fallin, CFRE, assumed the role of Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations in May, 2015. She began her professional life as an elementary school teacher followed by several marketing positions with consulting firms in the greater Baltimore area. Her nonprofit career started at the YMCA of Central Maryland in 1986 as the Vice President for Marketing and Development. In 1992 she moved to the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley assuming the position of Vice President of Marketing & Development. Robyn moved to Atlanta in 1994 as the Chief Development Officer for the Metro Atlanta YMCA where she oversaw financial and board development, public relations, communications, special events and new capital development planning and partnerships. From 2003-2011 she led 5 campaigns with the final effort being a comprehensive, 2 wave drive to secure $110 million to increase financial assistance to underserved families; build and expand facilities and support new program development. She then returned to San Jose to join the team at the YMCA of Silicon Valley as Executive Vice President for Strategy & Innovation in 2012. In 2013, she was asked to join the senior team at YMCA of the USA as the Chief Development Officer focusing on capacity building, major gifts and grant making. In 1998 Robyn received North American YMCA Development Organization’s Award for Excellence in Fundraising. She is also an alumnus of Leadership Atlanta and Leadership San Jose. Robyn graduated with a BA from McDaniel College and holds additional nonprofit management certifications from Goucher College.

saurav bhandarySaurav Bhandary 

Development Services Specialist

Saurav joined Oglethorpe University as the Development Services Specialist in May of 2019. He is a Nepali citizen and was born and raised in Meghauli, Nepal. Saurav is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College (USA) with a degree in Economics, and he currently holds the designation of Blackbaud Certified in Raiser’s Edge (bCRE-Pro). He has previously worked at Birmingham-Southern College, The UNA-USA Greater Birmingham Chapter and most recently at Atlanta International School. He is actively involved within the local nonprofit community and serves on the Board committee for SABHA, Inc. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time volunteering, hiking, playing soccer and traveling.

April Castro

Director of Development Operations

April joined Oglethorpe University in 2018 as the Director of Development Operations. April has served as an Advancement Services professional for Atlanta-area educational institutions for the past decade – including Emory University School of Law, Atlanta International School, The Paideia School and the Westminster Schools. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Performing Arts Management from Columbia College Chicago and a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Boston University. She currently serves on the Columbia College Chicago Alumni Association National Board. April and her husband, Aras Petrulis, reside in the Cabbagetown neighborhood of Atlanta.

Kathryn Ethridge

Principal Gifts Officer

Kathryn graduated from Oglethorpe with a degree in Communication and Rhetoric Studies. After graduation Kathryn remained actively involved with Oglethorpe and served on the Young Alumni Committee. In 2019, she returned to Oglethorpe as the Principal Gifts Officer in the Development Office. Before returning to campus Kathryn served as the Major Gifts Officer at the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and the Database Manager for Families First. She is an active member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and serves on their Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Committee as well as the National Philanthropy Day Committee. As a native of Atlanta Kathryn enjoys taking advantage of all the local social and cultural entertainment Atlanta has to offer, particularly the incredible restaurants. When free she enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family. In the fall you will likely find her between the hedges cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs!

Barb HenryBarbara Bessmer Henry ’85

Development Officer, Special Projects and Campaign Initiatives

Barbara (Barb) joined the Development and Alumni Relations Department in 2003 after 15 years in the Admission Office. She has a BBA in economics from Oglethorpe and enjoyed a career in the financial services industry prior to returning to Oglethorpe. She is a member of CASE (the Council for Advancement and Support of Education).   Barb is married to her college sweetheart Don Henry ’83 and they have 3 children.

Director of the Annual Fund

Kristy is an engineering graduate from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC. After graduation, she worked in the biotechnology industry and received her MBA from Auburn University. Kristy joined Oglethorpe University in 2018 as the Director of the Annual Fund. She previously served as Director of Annual Giving for Barry University in Miami, FL and also held roles in athletics development for the University of Miami Hurricane Club and the North Carolina State Wolfpack Club. An avid college sports fan, Kristy enjoys traveling to games and spending time with family and friends. Kristy and her daughter reside in Marietta.

Olha V. Seredyuk

Philanthropy and Digital Appeals Specialist

Olha was born in Lviv, Ukraine and grew up in Göteborg, Sweden, before moving to live and study in Atlanta, GA. As a result of this early globetrotting, she speaks multiple languages and has a third culture perspective enhanced by a B.A. from Emory University, where she started her journey in development for higher education. At Oglethorpe, Olha engages with students and young alumni, supporting fundraising and stewardship efforts while growing a culture of philanthropy. A patron of the arts, Olha enjoys attending performances and serving on boards which support personal enrichment and community reconciliation.

Steven Spencer

Principal Gifts Officer

Steven joined Oglethorpe University as a Principal Gifts Officer in April of 2019. He began his professional nonprofit career at the North Carolina Chamber and has held Major Gift Officer positions at Wake Forest University School of Law, Clemson University, and the University of Georgia, Terry College of Business. Steven is an accomplished fundraiser with extensive capital campaign experience and a comprehensive understanding of fundraising principles and practices. He is an alumnus of Wake Forest University with a degree in Business Management. When not practicing a donor-centric approach to securing resources, he enjoys spending time with his family, paddle boarding, and chasing around two energetic Aussie Doodles.

Clara St. Urbain ’14

Associate Director of Alumni Relations

Clara joined the Alumni Relations team in March of 2019. She graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Degree in Communications and Rhetoric Studies. After graduating she remained in Atlanta working in software and later as the Director of Operations at Tailored Living of Marietta. Clara is thrilled to be back on campus working with students and alumni. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing soccer and traveling.

Mary Rinaldi WinnMary Rinaldi Winn

Director of Alumni Relations

Mary joined the Oglethorpe University staff as the Director of Alumni Relations in the summer of 2015. Before arriving on the higher education scene in the Alumnae Relations department at Agnes Scott College in 2012, Mary spent most of her career in marketing and business development roles in the US and Europe. Mary holds a B.A. in French from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC. A native Atlantan, Mary is thrilled to be back in Atlanta raising her two daughters near family and lifelong friends.
